NEW FRAMEBUILDERS

Well made things to make things well. Born out of a desire to raise standards and remove unnecessary barriers to entry Academy Tools was started by The Bicycle Academy in 2012 to create innovative tool solutions for established and aspiring frame builders. Thousands of bikes have been produced, all over the world, using Academy Tools. Our award winning tools are trusted by hobbyists and professionals including the likes of Brompton, Bastion Cycles, Saffron Frameworks, Prova Cycles, Robot Bikes, Quirk Cycles, Five Land Bikes, Hope Technology, Mercredi and many more.

Established in 2019, Aion Cycles is a small one-man adventure run by Pablo Zumárraga in Madrid, Spain. With the aim to build what he calls “Workshop bicycles” he is begining to produce carefully handmade steel machines that are as functional as they are beautiful.

Alfano Frameworks is built on the idea that cycling is for everyone. Based in Leicester, I build bikes inspired by the traditions of the early twentieth century. Bespoke bikes should be a viable alternative for any keen cyclist. I create bikes that are made to measure to fit you perfectly and do exactly what you need them to do. Come and have a chat about design options and how we can make a bike that is uniquely yours.

Founded in London in 2012, through a love of bicycles and engineering, we want to give everyone the opportunity to build a bike from scratch! Regardless of being young or old, a cycling enthusiast or beginner, an experienced mechanic or novice –  we are committed to enabling people to build cutting-edge bikes that are sustainable and can be completely recycled after many years of usage.

All profits are re-invested in R&D, and we work closely with universities to continually test prototype technology for building bicycles. This knowledge is then passed on via educational programmes to schools, and to anyone attending a weekend workshop or building at home.

columbus

The story of the most famous steel tubes in the history of cycling began in 1919 when A.L. Colombo founded his steel plant with the ambition to “to do business in iron and steel and make a fair and honest profit,”. The result was the history of cycling as we know it: legendary tube sets AIR, MAX (first tube-set to break the tradition of conventional diameters and introduce concept of orientated ellipses and differentiated sections), SL, SLX, NIVACROM (EL and Genius), Altec, Starship and Spirit right up to the most 2009’s XCR, the world’s first ever tubeless stainless steel tube set which allows for the production of a steel frame competitive (and out-performing in some categories) at the highest level of the sport on all levels: weight (sub-1400g), rigidity, fatigue resistance and of course the remarkably superior handling of steel.
