Darrell McCulloch of Llewellyn Custom Bicycles in Brisbane, Australia is a master framebuilder who started out as an apprentice at the age of 16, back in 1979. With a wealth of experience he combines traditional frame construction methods with contemporary design and materials, creating bespoke steel bicycles that are functional, durable and stylish. Once again, Andrew Jones of Moss Bikes brought something special to Bespoked: an adventure bike with a built-in whisky flask, and bicycles built by his GCSE students as part of his pioneering L!FE BIKES project. We caught up with the teacher and framebuilder to get the latest on Moss and L!FE bikes.

In 2009 after a visit and meeting with Dario Pegoretti at his Caldonazzo workhshop Darrell McCulloch (of Llewellyn Custom Bicycles) and he set about on a project for a level top tube lug set that was sized to use XL or Double Over Size (DOS) tube sizes. A lug set such as this did not exist although Darrell had designed and produced the Crescendo lug set for XL -DOS tubes in 2004, however this set has a sloping top tube.
