Karoobaix04

This is Matthew Sowter of Saffron Frameworks' build for 395km of gravel racing through the South African Karoo in the 2017 Karoobaix. A mix of Columbus tubes - HSS Life and Zona, and the new carbon Futura gravel fork. Painted by Jack Kingston.

Karoobaix is a new two-day stage race for modern gravel/cyclocross bicycles through the South African Karoo - a sparse, barron landscape with plateaus and beautiful rock formation. In South Africa, cycling is only for the privileged. The local community is poor. So the race organiser pays for underprivileged riders to take part. The winner of the race will receive a custom Saffron frame. Good vibes all round.
